ARCADIA Expands: New Sculptural Paintings Debut at Justin Gaffrey Gallery

This Thursday, Justin Gaffrey unveils eighteen new sixteen-inch circular sculptural paintings, expanding ARCADIA, his celebrated collection of original contemporary artwork inspired by the landscapes, wildlife, and quiet mysteries of Florida's Gulf Coast.

Presented throughout the Justin Gaffrey Gallery along Scenic Highway 30A in Santa Rosa Beach, ARCADIA has become one of the artist's most ambitious exhibitions to date.

More than a collection of paintings, it is an evolving body of sculptural artwork where dimensional acrylic surfaces, natural observation, and centuries of artistic storytelling converge into an immersive world.

Built through thousands of applications of acrylic paint, each sculptural painting reflects Justin Gaffrey's distinctive process, transforming traditional painting into richly textured relief. Every surface captures changing light, movement, and shadow while inviting collectors to experience nature through an entirely different perspective.

That perspective belongs to the rabbit.

Rather than serving as a character, the rabbit becomes the viewer's guide through an imagined Arcadia. In this peaceful landscape, wildflowers become towering forests, herons stand like ancient guardians, sea creatures emerge from tidal pools, and familiar coastal landscapes reveal hidden narratives beneath their surface.

Inspired by centuries of pastoral painting while remaining unmistakably contemporary, ARCADIA celebrates the relationship between observation and imagination. It reflects Gaffrey's lifelong fascination with Florida's ecosystems, where every bloom, shoreline, bird, and shifting tide contributes to a larger story of resilience, discovery, and wonder.

The newly released sixteen-inch circular paintings continue this journey. Their intimate scale allows collectors to experience the artist's signature sculptural painting technique while exploring moments that might otherwise go unnoticed—sunlight passing through native grasses, the protection of dense coastal vegetation, the rhythm of shorebirds, and the quiet beauty found beneath nature's canopy.

Visitors to the Justin Gaffrey Gallery experience ARCADIA throughout the front gallery and two adjoining exhibition spaces, surrounded by more than fifty original sculptural paintings. Upstairs, a monumental work remains in progress, offering a rare glimpse into the evolution of the collection as it continues to unfold inside the artist's working gallery.

For collectors, ARCADIA represents more than a new exhibition. It marks a significant achievement in Justin Gaffrey's artistic career—a synthesis of sculptural painting, contemporary storytelling, art-historical influence, and an enduring reverence for the natural world. Together, these elements create an experience that feels both timeless and unmistakably his own.
